WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
Labiaplasty surgery is simply a cosmetic reduction or reshaping of the labia minora. This procedure does not tighten the vagina or increase sexual stimulation, however it does have the ability to reduce sexual distress caused by an enlarged or abnormal labia minora. A labiaplasty is performed to reduce discomfort and other emotional issues that may arise with displeasure regarding the size or shape of the labia minora. Furthermore, a labiaplasty can also be performed simply for cosmetic reasons, to improve the overall appearance of the labia minora and genital region.
The procedure is generally performed under general anesthetic, which lasts around a day. Generally speaking, a labiaplasty involves the surgical removal of excess labia tissue. There are a range of different labiaplasty procedures and Dr Dilip will decide the best procedure to suit your individual needs in your initial pre-surgery consultation.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO RECOVER?
After a labiaplasty procedure the area around the labia will be painful for a couple of days. You must refrain from sex and using tampons for approximately 6 weeks to give the area a chance to heal after your surgery. Dr Dilip will manage your pain with pain medication to ensure that you are comfortable after the labiaplasty surgery. Walking and light duties can be resumed after 2-6 days. Generally speaking, patients can resume normal everyday activities within around three weeks of the surgery. WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
During the labiaplasty procedure the labia minora will be decreased to the size and shape you discussed with Dr Dilip in your initial consultation. You will be able to see the results of your labiaplasty instantly. Keep in mind however it may take around two months for the full results to be evident, as the area will still having a substantial amount of swelling and the incisions will be healing.
